The Certificate IV in Hairdressing is targeted at employees who hold a Certificate III in Hairdressing, but who wish to multi skill into related specialist areas that will provide them with a qualification, including extra skills, to enhance their viability and productiveness in the workplace and create pathways into alternative career areas.

The training provided by Advanced Careers College is directly related to immediate job opportunities and also directed towards the acquisition of durable, recognised skills for the labour market. The Hairdressing Industry consists of many opportunities for students from all walks of life. Women and men alike are constantly seeking qualified hair artists and to offer expert advice and the increasing demand has resulted in an enormous need for multi skilled professionally trained Hairdressers. There are a vast number of opportunities for Hairdressers in salons, resorts and on cruise liners, just to mention a few.

A hands-on approach is given to all training, utilising competency based training and experiential learning strategies.

Course requirements

Advanced Careers College offers the Certificate IV in Hairdressing over a forty week period; two sessions face to face per week from 6.00pm-9.00pm and every second Saturday from 9.00am until 3.00pm.

It is designed to provide the student with multiple, advanced industry recognised vocational skills. The course encompasses many facets of the hairdressing industry, through theory and practical sessions including technical and interpersonal skills that will challenge you to be the best that you can be.

The course is designed to follow an educational sequence that ensures continuity in learning and the highest quality in training.

In addition, we provide a professional on-site simulated salon that provides the opportunity for students to gain practical experience with clients. Also provided is a dedicated theory room housing television, VHS and associated technology, providing students with the opportunity to review or preview videos or other electronic media and to study and perform assignment work. Staff are available for support with job skills, job searching and employment placement.

Hairdressers not only have to be very professional, but they are also required to be extremely empathetic. Although the hours are long and require hard work and dedication, with a genuine interest in other people and a good measure of personality, you will be positioned to reach the top of this exciting profession.

The Certificate IV in Hairdressing expands knowledge and develops practical and technical skills required by hairdressers to perform professionally advanced techniques in the Hairdressing industry.

 

Course Duration

The course is forty weeks duration. Hours vary according to electives chosen.

 

Pathways

A further opportunity exists to develop your business skills through entry into the Diploma in Hairdressing Salon Management. The Diploma covers an array of business related Units that enable you to effectively manage your own salon.
